The map is where the ability of geography to offer meaningful representations of reality is ultimately measured. However in its traditional conception it is an instrument that has difficulty depicting dynamic phenomena, since it is, by definition, a representation of a given instant.
This understanding is the basis of our ongoing attempts to map time in a more active manner.
